You can find our Saugatuck ice cream store at the corner of two tree-lined blocks: Butler Street and Mason Street. Visitors love our ice cream cones, Mackinac Island Fudge, perfect caramel apples, and the many other available goodies we make at Kilwins. 

You’ve probably seen our customers enjoying their snacks and sweets while sitting on the outdoor benches outside our store or taking a stroll. Kilwins has a captivating history dating back to its founding in 1947 and the love story between Don and Katy Kilwin. They started the business right here in Michigan. We’re honored to be part of their legacy. Our Saugatuck chocolate store is only about 3.5 hours from Petoskey (also known as the site of the first Kilwins store).

Our Saugatuck chocolate store is down the block from the Kalamazoo River and Kalamazoo Lake, putting us in the perfect location for you to stop by our shop for goodies to take with you on the boat. 

If you’d rather stay on dry land, our Kilwins store is also less than a five-minute walk or drive from Village Square Park and Wicks Park. Enjoy an ice cream in a cone, cup, or bowl on your way. Or, pack some desserts and beverages for a picnic, such as our chocolate-dipped fruit or cookies and one of our frozen fruit drinks. 

We’re also minutes from multiple beaches, including Oval Beach and Douglas Beach Park, Make sure to bring a cooler to keep all your Kilwins chocolates and caramels in peak condition in the warm weather.

You’ll find the results of Don Kilwin’s hard work, innovative ideas, and exceptional recipes are still present today in our Saugatuck ice cream store. For example, we have Don Kilwin to thank for teaching us how to make caramel in copper kettles and Mackinac Island Fudge on marble countertops. 

Our chocolate and Mackinac Island Fudge recipes have been around the longest, dating back to the late 1940s. Then, in 1985, we proudly introduced our kosher-certified Kilwins Original Recipe Ice Cream.
