Kilwins was born in 1947 when our founders, Don and Katy Kilwin, opened the very first store in Petoskey, Michigan. Their mission was to provide their community with the best chocolates around.
Since then, Kilwins has grown quite a lot—we now have stores all over the country. It’s clear that our founders had the right idea about desserts! Through it all, our mission has remained the same, and we’re proud to say that our confections are undoubtedly the best we’ve tried.
Our Heritage Chocolate is made with the same recipe crafted by Don in 1947, as are our caramel products that were added to the lineup close to a decade later. When the Kilwins Original Ice Cream Recipe was developed in 1985, we followed that same quest for perfection that led our founders to make our famous Heritage Chocolate. Our ice cream is made from premium ingredients to give it a rich, soft, and creamy finish. We add other high-quality ingredients to create our super-premium flavors, all of which are kosher-certified.
Once our ice cream is finished, it is driven to our Plymouth store in our very own temperature-controlled transport trucks to make sure the ice cream stays rich and flavorful throughout the drive. This way, we can be certain the quality is never compromised.
