That’s why some of our recipes haven’t changed since the mid-1900s, when our founder, Don Kilwin, created them. Our Heritage Chocolate is the same as it was over 75 years ago, and our caramel is still cooked in copper kettles. Meanwhile, our Mackinac Island Fudge is still hand-paddled on marble countertops and many of the candies in our Indianapolis ice cream store are still made using heritage methods.

Kilwins started in 1947 when Don and Katy Kilwin (our founders) opened the first Kilwins store in Petoskey, MI. Back then, their mission was simple: to share the joy and taste of high-quality candy with their community.
Nowadays, our mission is still the same, but on a much greater scale, and we’re still growing. In each Kilwins store, you’ll find the same friendly welcome, delicious sweets, and a home-like atmosphere. Kilwins is committed to making our customers feel at home.

We may have become a national sensation for our Heritage Chocolate, but you won’t have the full Kilwins experience without trying our Original Recipe Ice Cream. With many flavors available and limited-edition flavors popping up regularly, there’s something for everyone at our Indianapolis ice cream store. Like the rest of the Kilwins menu, our ice cream is only made from the best ingredients possible.
If you enjoy the wide variety of chocolates we offer, we encourage you to try our Original Recipe Ice Cream. When our ice cream recipe was first dreamt up in 1985, it was a fast favorite among customers. After seeing how popular it was, we knew we had to share it with the rest of our stores!
Our ice cream comes in flavors like rich chocolate and refreshing strawberry, and each flavor is based on our Original Recipe Ice Cream base. This base is made from premium ingredients, and all our flavors are 100 percent kosher-certified.
After our ice cream is mixed and ready to go, it is loaded into Kilwins’ very own temperature-controlled transport trucks (with Kilwins drivers) to keep the flavor fresh until it gets to our Indianapolis chocolate store.
