We’ve been making and selling fudge for almost as long as we’ve been making and selling chocolates. Don and Katy Kilwin bought a marble table in 1948 and soon after, started handcrafting fudge on it. They started simple with just a few flavors at the outset, but over the years, Kilwins has added new flavors to cater to as many people as we can.

Kilwins: A Rich History

Growing our flavor roster of products isn’t the only thing we’ve been working on: We’ve also been working on growing our number of locations so more people across the country can taste what we (and our customers) think are some of the best sweet treats you can find anywhere. As we continue to spread Kilwins across America, we work just as hard to make sure that each and every store is held to the same standards of quality as our first.

Part of the secret to our success is the direct line of knowledge passed down from one generation of candy cooks to the next. This knowledge isn’t the only thing we’ve passed down—some of our cooking equipment is the same that we first used in the 1940s. You really can taste the difference. 

We’ve added some modern technology to help make new flavors and improve parts of our process, but we just wouldn’t be Kilwins without our classic techniques and flavors.

In 1985, Kilwins officially added ice cream to our store offerings. We take making ice cream seriously.
